How Do I Request Spousal Support or Child Support?
A: Petitions for spousal support or child support may be filed at any time post-separation in the Juvenile & Domestic Court. Additional, the Circuit Court may hear these issues on appeal from Juvenile & Domestic Court or if the issues arise incident to a divorce petition. In some cases, there are presumptive guidelines for courts to follow in awarding support amounts. In other cases, however, there are no guidelines and simply criteria for the court to consider.
